About Hakim
Hakim was born and raised in the Pioneer Valley. He attended college in Bar Harbor, Maine, at College of the Atlantic where he received a transdisciplinary degree in Human Ecology. His senior thesis took him to the Brazilian Amazon, where he studied the Santo Daime — a syncretic religious movement from Brazil. Upon returning to the U.S., Hakim remained in Bar Harbor where he attended Acadia School of Massage, and earned his title as Licensed Massage Therapist. He is the owner of Amherst Massage Therapy.
Hakim has always been called to serve others and brings a range of experiences to his healing practice. He has worked one-one-one with brain trauma survivors at Volunteers of America, taught English in Guatemala, organized and run a TEDx event, spoke on behalf of Bernie Sanders in the 2016 Maine primary caucuses, has worked at farms, and is a Whitewater Raft Guide on the Deerfield River. Through all his endeavors, Hakim is always seeking the experience of flow-state, where the mind and body become one and the present moment extends into eternity. Hakim wishes to bring this experience to others through bodywork, movement, fitness, and coaching.
Called to live a life of service and spiritual growth from a young age, Hakim has a deep commitment to furthering the purposes of love and light on the earth. Hakim has been a student of GurujiMa since the time he was born, learning to integrate spirituality into each moment of life. His bodywork is part of this soul-driven mission, and exists outside of any one religious or spiritual tradition but rather seeks to bring each being into communion with the light which flows within each of us and within all.
In his free time Hakim can be found playing accordion, rock climbing, ice-bathing, hiking in the White Mountains, and listening to mushrooms.

“
I had not had any bodywork for the duration of the pandemic, which covered my pregnancy and several months caring for my little one. Hakim did a fantastic job working on both areas of chronic pain and more recently-developed areas of stiffness. He demonstrated an expansive knowledge of how different parts of the body connect and hold tension. I am looking forward to seeing him again soon.

I will be back for more. I experienced 90 minutes of bliss as he unknotted and massaged away 9 months of housebound soreness with no tenderness afterwards. I highly recommend Hakim.
